Injection Motor Is Need To Heat The Engine Before The Road?

Before the motor is used for activities, it is generally heated by starting the engine in a stationary state or not driving. The latest motorcycles are now also mostly equipped with injection systems. So, is it still necessary to do the habit of heating the engine before driving?

To note that in terms of fuel injection, the motorbike is divided into engines with carburetor technology and engine with injection technology. If the carburetor relies on the up and down motion of the piston to move the carburetor scooter, which is commonly found on old motorbikes, the injection uses the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) system which regulates the amount of gasoline spray through the injector.

Quoting the Wahana Honda page, Saturday (17/10/2020), both motorbikes that still use a carburetor system with a choke or those that already use FI, are still obliged to warm up the engine before using it in the morning.

The reason is because when the motor is not used for a long time, the oil in the engine cools down. If the motor is used directly, it is feared that there will be friction of each component that has not been smeared with oil and over time it will cause the engine to experience problems.

The difference is only a matter of the length of time to warm the engine. Motorcycles that still use carburetors still need to be heated before being used for at least a maximum of 3 minutes, while injection motors must be heated between 30 seconds and 1 minute. This difference is because the stationary system on the injection motors will run automatically when the vehicle is started.

Oiya, it is not recommended to turn the gas loudly when heating the motorbike because it will waste fuel for nothing. Basically, when the engine is on, a fuel combustion process is carried out and if the motor is heated for a long time, the fuel will also continue to burn in vain.
