Honda Protests Electric Cars Are Hybrid Types Too
Currently the world is focusing on being able to reduce the number of CO2 produced by vehicles, as a result environmentally friendly vehicles are the choice. However, Honda is in the middle of filing a protest to the British government not to build an electric vehicle, because talking about environmentally friendly vehicles, there are many choices, one of which is a hybrid, not just an electric car.
Quoted by Autocar and the Conservative Home blog, Honda assesses that hybrid vehicles can also have an important role in reducing CO2, not just electric cars. This was immediately conveyed by Honda Europe Senior Vice President, Ian Howells.
Ian said that reducing CO2 should be done in various ways or a multi-path approach. So that the dream of becoming a carbon-free country in 2050 can actually be realized by Britain.
“A variety of technologies can be used to reduce CO2 quickly and effectively, while ensuring that personal mobility remains affordable and accessible to all. This is important for the government to increase the level of air quality and provide more choices to the public, “said Ian Howells.

However, Ian also admitted that it is true that electric vehicles have an important role to play in reducing CO2, even faster. But still, the government should also give the same treatment to other environmentally friendly vehicles such as hybrids.
“The challenge is still a matter of affordability or how much electric cars can run, infrastructure and technological limitations, so that the government can not only rely on electric vehicles entirely to replace the role of internal combustion engines by 2035. Moreover, the government should not limit consumer choices,” said Ian.
“Relying solely on expensive electric cars could risk turning a driver into feeling privileged only for the rich. Meanwhile it is too expensive for those who also need private vehicles for mobility, ”Ian added.
